Henry V. Talley, Ph.D., Dean, FAMU School of Nursing (SoN) has resigned effective immediately. Talley came to FAMU in 2017 from Michigan State University, where he was founding director of the Nurse Anesthesia program.  Former SoN Dean Mary Ella Graham, Ed.D, has been appointed interim.   Graham came to FAMU in 2006 from Tennessee State University where she served as dean and professor of the SoN there.

Graham was hired by former interim President Castell V. Bryant.  Former FAMU President James Ammons removed her as Dean in 2008.  Graham's brief tenure as dean was marked by controversy her leadership style had been described by nursing faculty as "divisive and ineffective."

Talley cited a lack of support from the FAMU administration as his reason for stepping down.  He and Provost Maurice Eddington spared frequently on the direction in which the school should be headed.
