FAMU men's basketball team which opened its basketball season on Nov. 5th against the the University of Southern California on the road, and has been on the road ever since, twice against top 25 ranked teams, picked up its first win of the season 71-57 this past Saturday against the Seattle University Redhawks of the Western Athletic Conference.
The Rattlers (1-9) led by as many as 15 points in the first half and took a 36-24 advantage into the break. The Rattlers outscored the Redhawks in the second half, 35-33, to cruise to their first win. Senior Guard Ray Melton, Jr., paced four Rattler players in double figures with 17 points, on 6-of-11 shooting and 3-of-5 from behind the 3-point line, along with four rebounds and two assists. MJ Randolph finished with 16 points, on 6-of-7 shooting, with a team-high eight boards, four assists, two steals and one block, while DJ Jones chipped in with 12 points, eight rebounds, two blocks and one assist. Brendon Myles came off the bench to provide 11 points, on 4-of-7 shooting, including 3-of-3 from behind the 3-point line.
The Rattlers begin conference play January 4th and will host heir first home game of the season on January 11th.
