When the Lady Rattler softball team returns to play in 2021 they will be greeted by a brand new state-of-the-art AstroTurf playing surface.
Installation of the new playing surface began on August 3 and will take five weeks to complete.
The new turf is expected to save the athletic department $70,000 in field annual maintenance and upkeep cost on the old natural grass, and allow the to use the surface for practice or play no matter the weather conditions.
Earlier this year, the softball complex also received a new Daktronics scoreboard, the last scoreboard was lost functionality after being struck by lightning.
