FAMU grad named President & CEO of Independence Health Group

FAMU alumnus Gregory E. Deavens has been named President and CEO of Independence Health Group in Philadelphia, the leading Blue Cross affiliate in southeastern Pennsylvania.  He will take over the helm on Jan.1, 2021.

Deavens currently serves as executive vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer of Independence. He is a 1984 graduate of FAMU with a bachelor’s in accounting.  He also held senior financial roles at New York Life, CIGNA, and GE Capital.
