The FAMU Board of Trustees, this morning, approved a proposal to allow athletics to outsource its sponsorship and multimedia rights to Peak Sports Management.
Under the partnership, Peak Sports Mgmt will sell and manage all sponsorship inventory for the FAMU athletic department, including digital collateral, venue signage, game sponsorships, radio, and other opportunities.
The five-year deal guarantees FAMU athletics a minimum of $1 million, with opportunities for revenue sharing once certain thresholds are met. The deal also calls for Peak to dedicate two full-time staff members to FAMU at no cost to the university.
FAMU is the third MEAC school, and third HBCU, to partner with Peak Sports following behind Delaware State University (June) and North Carolina Central University (October).
Peak currently does not represent any schools in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) which FAMU will join in July.
Other university athletic programs represented by Peak are University of Central Arkansas, Southeastern Louisiana University, Austin Peay State University, W. Texas A&M University, Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, Pittsburg State University, Murray State University, Nicholls State University, Northwestern State University, Lamar University, Missouri Western State University, Dixie State University, The Citadel, Delaware State University and North Carolina Central University.
