FAMU cancels a pair of weekend men's hoops games because of positive COVID test

FAMU men’s basketball team which had traveled to Tampa this week for a road game against the University of South Florida, Friday had to cancel the game because of a positive COVID-19 tests by a support staff member.  FAMU also cancelled Sunday’s road game against the University of Nebraska. 

"We were informed of a positive test this (Friday) morning by our medical staff and immediately initiated COVID-19 protocol for retesting and quarantining. We continue to take every precaution to ensure the safety of our student-athletes and staff," said Director of Athletics Kortne Gosha. "Our men's basketball program will continue to prepare to compete in a safe manner and follow all CDC guidelines for practice and competition."

Late last month, FAMU cancelled the entire Lady Rattlers basketball season prior to its start citing concerns about COVID-19.
