FAMU men’s basketball team with play their first home games of the season in the Al Lawson Center this week after all.  The team was initially scheduled to face North Carolina Central in back-to-back games on this Saturday and Sunday.  Those games were postponed after a positive COVID-19 test within the NCCU program.

In their place, the Rattlers will now host conference foe South Carolina State on Sunday at 2 p.m. and Monday at 6 p.m. in the Lawson Center.

FAMU head men's basketball coach Robert McCullum had this to say about the quick reshuffling of the schedule, "it's unfortunate but it's the new norm".

"This worked out as best as it could be expected. We're playing South Carolina State sooner than we would've played them. Down the road, we'll have to make an adjustment so we're not playing North Carolina Central four consecutive times."

MEAC scheduling for the 2020-21 season features teams playing each other on consecutive days to limit travel.

This is the third time this season COVID-19 issues have changed FAMU's schedule.

Road games against South Florida (Dec. 4) and Nebraska (Dec. 6) were canceled. The Rattlers added a trip to Oregon on Dec. 9 as a replacement for one of these missed outings.
