The FAMU men’s basketball team couldn’t find their footing Sunday afternoon and dropped a crucial MEAC conference game to NC A&T 70-63 in the Al Lawson Center, snapping a 12-game home winning streak.
The Rattlers (5-9, 4-3 MEAC) dug themselves into a deep hole in the first half had trailed by 35-22 going into halftime.
In the second half, A&T (9-10, 5-1 MEAC) built its largest lead of the contest, 48-27, with 15:57 left.
FAMU fought back to within six, 62-56, with 2:19 remaining., but it wasn’t enough. A&T kept the Rattlers at arm length to hold on to victory.
As a team, FAMU shot 39.7 percent from the field (23-of-58) while A&T hit 37.7 percent of its shots (23-of-61).
FAMU travels to Orangeburg, S.C. to take on South Carolina State in another MEAC Southern Division battle on Thursday. It will be the first of three consecutive contests that the Rattlers and Bulldogs will play against each other. Tip-off for Thursday's matchup is set for 6 p.m.
