The FAMU baseball team won its sixth-straight conference game Saturday, as the Rattlers swept a doubleheader from Norfolk State (NSU). The Rattlers won the opener 12-5, while taking the second game 6-2.
FAMU and NSU will meet again at 11 am today for another doubleheader, the series finale, at Moore-Kittles Field in Tallahassee. FAMU improved to 12-17 overall and 6-0 in the MEAC, while Norfolk dropped to 9-20 overall and 5-5 in league play.
FAMU jumped out to take an early 5-0 lead in the first inning of game one, and added four more points in the second inning. Norfolk didn’t get on the board until the top of fourth inning when they scored four runs. The Rattlers responded quickly by add three runs in the bottom of fifth to seal the victory in seven innings.
In game two, FAMU scored three runs in the bottom of the second inning to go up 3-0 before allowing Norfolk to score two runs in the top of third. The fourth inning was scoreless for both teams, before the Rattlers rallied again in the bottom of the fifth to add three more runs and hold on to win 6-2 in seven innings.
