FAMU Trustees will be asked to approve a one-time non-recurring $2,000 lump sum bonus for faculty, administrative & professional, university support personnel service and graduate assistant employees at its June 3, 2021 meeting.

The proposed bonus would come from a 6% budget holdback that the university did in anticipation of COVID-related budget cuts that did not materialize after the state received nearly $10 billion from the Biden administration to prop up the state budget.

"While fiscal years 2020 and 2021 have presented its share of challenges with the COVID-19 pandemic, we are pleased to extend this meaningful reward to employees who have the awesome responsibility of educating and servicing our future leaders," the documents stated.

The bonus request will be based on a yet to specified merit based criteria, performance, and hire date.
