FAMU’s preliminary enrollment for fall 2021 is down by 496 students from fall 2020. The fall 2021 total headcount is 8,683 students, down from 9,179 in 2020.

According to numbers supplied to the FAMU Board of Trustees by William Hudson, FAMU VP of Student Affairs. The enrollment drop could likely be attributed to the COIVD-19 pandemic, and student’s difficulty taking the SAT/ACT exam.  The State University System of Florida was the only public university system in the nation not to make the SAT/ACT optional

This year’s enrollment drop is part of a much larger picture, one which includes a smaller overall crop of high school graduates.
FAMU's enrollment has declined steadily since Fall 2012 when the university had 12,051 students enrolled.
