The Lady Rattlers volleyball team swept Alcorn State and Prairie View A&M blanking both teams 3 sets to 0 Sunday (Oct. 10) in a home doubleheader to improve to 12-5 overall on the season, 4-1 in the SWAC.
The Rattlers beat Alcorn 25-16, 25-17, and 25-1, and Prairie View 25-9, 25-15, and 25-22. FAMU outscored ASU, 62-29, and held huge advantages in hitting percentage (.410-.083), service aces (9-2), digs (49-37), and total blocks (5-3). The Rattlers outscored PVAM58-32, serving up 41 kills to 22.
The pair of victories gave FAMU Gokhan Yilman his 50th career win as a coach. Yilman took over coaching duties at FAMU in August of 2018 and has compiled 33 wins with the Orange and Green.
The Lady Rattlers will play host to Southern University on this afternoon at 1 p.m.
