FAMU will receive $500,000 from the National Park Service (NPS) to assist with preserving the historic parts of the Samuel H. Coleman Memorial Library, the Park Service announced yesterday.

The grant is one of several made to HBCUs to help restore historic structures on campuses considered to be the most historically significant and physically threatened. The original part of Coleman Library was constructed in 1948.  The building was renovated in 1976 and expanded in 1990 and again in 2004.
