While much of the focus has been on the FAMU Rattler football team, the Lady Rattler volleyball team, the defending SWAC Champions, returned to begin preparations for their 2022-23 season.

During the offseason, Head Coach Gokhan Yilmaz has been busy beefing up his already talented roster, by adding  two transfers to its roster in the form of  Jada Taylor from Grambling State and Nina Sharpton from North Carolina State.

"This addressed several of our needs and makes our 2022 team a fun group. Now we turn our attention to turn this group into a great team. Our schedule will be extremely challenging, and I am confident we will rise to the occasion," Yilmaz said.

“Our goal is to improve upon what we started last year,” he added.

The Rattlers also return 2021 SWAC Player of the Year Dominique Washington.

The Lady Rattlers began their season on August 19th against when they play host to the U of West Florida at 1 pm.   Then they travel on August 26 -27 to play in the Kansas State Invitational in Manhattan, KS, against NC State, Sam Houston U, and host Kansas State.

New facility
This year, the Lady Rattlers will play their home games in a new venue, the Jake Gaither Center.  "The Jake" courts have been completely renovated and for the first-time the volleyball team will have a facility dedicated completely to them.
