Torey Alston, a FAMU grad and former member of the FAMU Board of Trustees, was elected chair of the Broward County School Board. Alston, was appointed to the school board last week by Governor Ron DeSantis after the Gov. suspended the four incumbents.
Just prior to being appointed to the school board, Alston previously served on the Broward County Commission, where he was also appointed by DeSantis. Prior to that he served as chief of staff at the Florida Department of Transportation.
Alston holds both a bachelors and masters in business administration from FAMU.
