How it happened
FAMU recorded three service aces occurred in its final set against UNCG, to put them away handedly.
Dominique Washington recorded 18 kills, 2 aces; while Aja Jones added 10 kills and 2 blocks, and Emerald Jacobs added 6 kills, 2 aces.
The game against host Elon was tighter race in the opening set, but the Rattlers were never on the losing side of the scoreboard, and always seemed to create just enough distance -- a 3-0 run here, a 4-0 run there – to pull out a 25-21 win.
In the next two sets it was all Elon, but FAMU rebounded and fought to the finish to win the fourth and fifth 26-24 and 15-5 to put them away.
Three Rattlers finished with 15 or more kills: Washington (20), Watts (16) and Jones (16). The former two also recorded a double-double on 11 and 13 digs, respectively.
FAMU concludes its N.C. trip today at 1 p.m. against North Carolina A&T.
