The FAMU football team improved to (4-2, 2-1 SWAC) this afternoon with a 20-14 win South Carolina State in Orageburg,SC. The victory gave FAMU its fourth straight win of the season.
FAMU built up a comfortable 17-0 halftime lead over SC State at halftime. FAMU extended that lead by 3 to hold a 20-0 advantage heading into the fourth quarter.
SC State didn’t score its first touchdown four minutes into the fourth quarter. Two and half minutes later SCSU scored again to cut FAMU’s advantage to 20-14. SCSU, with the help of the referees, continued to press FAMU until the final minute of the game, but the FAMU defense prevailed. FAMU was penalized 15 times for 151 yards on the afternoon, ten of those penalties came in the 4Q for 104 yards, handing the SC State four first downs.
