FAMU 2022 Homecoming “The Experience” officially kicks off today with nine days of festivities.
A few of the highlights include, this evenings drive-in movie at 8pm at Bragg Stadium. Moviegoers can enjoy “Love Don’t Cost A Thing” at 8 p.m. from their vehicles in the stadium parking lot.
The activities continue on Sunday with the Gospel Experience and Blessings & Brunch in Gaither Gym featuring singer at with singer and worship leader Kelontae Gavin. Gavin who is most known for the gospel radio singles, “No Ordinary Worship” and “Higher.
On Sunday, Aliyah Everett will formally be crowned the 116th Miss FAMU at the Coronation at 6pm in Lee Hall Auditorium.
ABC’s Good Morning America (GMA) will be on the FAMU campus to capture some of the festivities with two days of live broadcast on beginning on Friday, October 28th from Bragg Stadium beginning at 6:45 a.m., students, alumni and the community are urged to attend. On Saturday, GMA will broadcast from the bronze Rattler statue in front the Center for Access and Success during the Homecoming Parade.
“We have a wonderful tradition of Homecoming here with Rattlers coming from all over, we with GMA coming to campus we will be able to share it with the rest of the nation,” said FAMU President Larry Robinson. “This just adds to the homecoming experience.”
On Friday, Oct. 28, Alumna Tiffany Greene will be the guest speaker for the Homecoming Convocation, at 10:10 a.m. at the Al Lawson Center.
Also FAMFEST returns for a second year, on Friday, with a ribbon-cutting for the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation Plaza at the Will Packer Amphitheater at 1:15 p.m.
The Homecoming Parade kicks off at 8 am on Saturday morning with more than 355 cars, floats, and groups have participating --- Alumna Kim Godwin, president of ABC News, will serve as the parade grand marshal. The Rattlers will play the University of Arkansas – Pine Bluff in the 4 p.m., homecoming game.
Following the game will be the Homecoming Concert features the City Girls, Latto, Saucy Santana and other artists in the Al Lawson Center.
