The No. 24 ranked FAMU Rattlers (9-2, 7-1 SWAC) defeated its in-state neighbor Bethune-Cookman (2-9, 2-6 SWAC) 41-20 in yesterday’s Florida Classic football game in Orlando in front of a crowd of 55,257 and kept its FCS playoff hopes alive.
The No. 24 ranked FAMU Rattlers (9-2, 7-1 SWAC) defeated its in-state neighbor Bethune-Cookman (2-9, 2-6 SWAC) 41-20 in yesterday’s Florida Classic football game in Orlando in front of a crowd of 55,257 and kept its FCS playoff hopes alive.
It was the Rattler’s ninth straight victory on the season and second straight Florida Classic win.
Despite being out gained on offense 282 to 284 yards, it was the Rattlers who were the more productive scoring on all four trips to the red zone and who were able to win the turnover battle 2-0 intercepting one pass and recovering one fumble.
The victory potentially sets the Rattlers sets the Rattlers up for an at-large Football Championship Subdivision berth. The Rattlers will learn if the win was enough, today during the NCAA FCS playoff selection show today at 12:30 pm.
Update: FAMU was not selected for the 24-team FCS Playoff field.
