FAMU has closed all campuses today and Friday, as it prepares for the possible impacts from inclement weather associated with Hurricane Nicole.

Hurricane Nicole made landfall on Florida’s Atlantic coast just south of Vero Beach as a Category 1 hurricane early this morning, with winds as high as 75 mph,  according to the National Hurricane Center, sending rising ocean water onshore and lashing the state with damaging winds and heavy rainfall.

As the storm makes its way across Florida meteorologists predicted wind speeds for the Tallahassee area could decrease to between 25 and 35 mph with the potential for gusts of 45 mph.

Residence Halls and Residence Dining facilities (Top Café’) and The Hub will remain open Thursday.  On Friday, the Top Café’ will be open while the The Hub and all retail locations are closed.
FAMU expects to resume normal operations on Monday, November 14.
