The FAMU Lady Rattlers (2-6, 0-0 SWAC) basketball team used overtime to take down division 2 Tuskegee Golden Tigers (7-2, 4-1 SIAC) 77-75 last night in the Al Lawson Center.
The FAMU Lady Rattlers (2-6, 0-0 SWAC) basketball team used overtime to take down division 2 Tuskegee Golden Tigers (7-2, 4-1 SIAC) 77-75 last night in the Al Lawson Center.
The Rattlers were led by Paulla Weekes, who had a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds, Ahriahna Grizzle , 18 points and six steals and Dylan Horton with 13 points.
FAMU was able to capitalize on 23 Tuskegee turnovers which they turned into points.
The Rattlers enjoyed a six point , 39-33, advantage at the half. FAMU opened the second half by going on a 7-0 run to make it 46-35 with 6:53 to go in the third.
The Golden Tigers had cut into that lead somewhat, but the Rattlers entered the fourth quarter with a 57-50 edge. FAMU took advantage of seven Tuskegee turnovers in the fourth quarter, scoring 10 points off of takeaways.
FAMU then surrendered that advantage as Tuskegee forced overtime by tying things up at 67-67 by the end of the fourth. The Rattlers outscored Tuskegee 10-8 in overtime to seize victory by the 77-75 final score.
