Gloria Walker's tenure as FAMU’s Vice President for Finance and Administration/CFO was short lived as less than nine months into the role she has been fired. Her dismissal comes on the heels of several recent run-ins with her cabinet level colleagues and Trustees.
Several sources with intimate knowledge of the details surrounding her dismissal suggest that "Walker's sharp tongue and crass style just did not gel with the current culture."
Walker will be replaced by Rebecca Brown who had served as interim CFO/VP for Finance and Administration from July 2021 until June 2022. Brown has been with the university for 25-years and most recently served as assistant vice president for Finance and Administration in charge of Business & Auxiliary Services where she manages a staff of more than 150 and a consolidated operating budget of about $33 million.
