FAMU is on track to have another record breaking private fund raising year for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2023  having raised $23.4 million (as of May 10th).  The amount exceeds it $15million goal by 156%.

Last year (2022), FAMU raised a record $23.6 million, which was a 70 percent increase of the 2021.

“FAMU’s extraordinary fundraising success is a direct reflection of how our faculty, staff, students, alumni, donors and friends steadfastly support our mission and vision,” said FAMU President Larry Robinson. “Our stature as a leader in higher education continues to be enhanced by the generous philanthropy of our many stakeholders, and as a result, our students reap the rewards.”

In a reality check, Vice President for University Advancement and Executive Director of the FAMU Foundation Shawnta Friday-Stroud, cautioned trustees that the recent success maybe a momentarily reflection of current societal trends which have seen an uptick in giving to HBCUs and other Black organization since the death of George Floyd.  She noted, for example, that year-over-year alumni giving this year was down by  over $1 million.
