The FAMU baseball team’s season came to an end yesterday as the SWAC Champion Rattlers were eliminated from the NCAA Regional after losing to the No. 10 ranked UConn Huskies 9-6 in front of 4,985 spectators at Condron Family Ballpark in Gainesville.
The Rattlers scored first against the Huskies and lead until UConn tied the game in the top of the third. The Rattlers again took the lead scoring in the bottom of the third to make the score 2-1.
The Huskies then scored 3 runs in the top of the fourth to take a 3-2 lead, before the Rattlers scored again in the bottom of the fourth to make it a 4-3 game.
The Huskies scored again, and the Rattlers tied it up again in the bottom of the fifth at 5 all.
The game remained tied until the Huskies broke the tie in the top of the eighth and took a 8-5 lead, the Rattlers narrowed the gap to make it 8-6. The Huskies scored again in the top of the ninth and the Rattlers were unable to answer.
