FAMU President Larry Robinson announced salary increases for eligible faculty, administrators and staff, effective August 18.
“It gives me great pleasure to announce that special funding has been set aside to provide a recurring 3 percent performance-based wage increase, effective August 18, 2023, for eligible faculty,” Robinson wrote. “In addition to the recurring $2,400 increase provided in August 2022,” Robinson added, “I am pleased to report that collectively, the University has provided two recurring wage increases to eligible faculty’s salaries within one year.”
In letters sent to administrators, faculty and staff on Friday, Sept.7, Robinson said all eligible faculty will also receive a one-time 3 percent non-recurring merit increase to their July 1, 2023, base rate of pay.
Robinson also announced that special funding has been set aside to provide a recurring 2.5 percent performance-based wage increase, for eligible administration and staff, effective August 18.
“In addition to the recurring 3 percent performance-based wage increase provided in April 2023 retroactively applied to January 1, 2023, I am pleased to report that collectively, the University has provided a recurring 5.5 percent performance-based wage increase to our eligible administration and staff within one calendar year,” Robinson said.
To be eligible, employees must have been hired on or before July 1, 2023, and must be continuously employed through August 18. Employees must have received at least a “Satisfactory” performance evaluation on the most recent performance evaluation or done during 2022-2023. The 2.5 percent increase will be applied to eligible administration and staff base salaries.
To be eligible, a faculty member must be hired by May 5, 2023, and must be continuously employed through August 18 and must have received at least a minimum “Satisfactory” performance evaluation on the most recent performance evaluation. Faculty who has been disciplined between July 1, 2022, and August 18, 2023, or given notice of a non-reappointment before August 18, 2023, are ineligible for the increase.
The University will fund the 3 percent performance-based increase for eligible employees whose salaries are funded through E&G sources. Eligible employees funded by Non-E&G funds may receive the 3 percent performance-based increase contingent upon available funding, Robinson wrote.
All Other Personal Services (OPS) employees and in-unit employees covered by collective bargaining agreements between the FAMU Board of Trustees and the Florida Benevolent Association (PBA), the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), United Faculty of Florida-Graduate Assistants United (UFF-GAU), and the United Faculty of Florida-FAMU Chapter Developmental Research School (UFF-FAMU DRS) are not eligible for the 3 percent performance-based increase.
