The FAMU Rattlers defeated the University of West Florida in its home opener football game 31-10 Saturday to extend its home winning streak to 16 games. With the victory, the Rattlers improved to 2-1 on the season (1-0 SWAC), while the Argonauts fell to 2-1.
It was the first-ever meeting between the Rattlers and the Division 2 Argonauts.
The Argonauts just started their football program in 2016 gave the Rattlers fits during the first half with both teams tied 3-3 at the half.
The Rattlers used a big third quarter performance in which they outscored the Argos 21-0 to put the game away. Both teams each scored touchdown in the final period.
The Rattlers will stay at home this week to take on conference foe Alabama State this Saturday at 6 pm .
