After a nearly 26 day wait, FAMU looked internal to name interim head football coach James Colzie III, as the Rattlers' 19th head football coach Saturday.

Colzie was the favorite of the players, and some alumni.  Other alumni backed former associate head coach Billy Rolle, who was one of former Rattler Head Coach Willie Simmons' first hires.  Rolle remained on the staff until he retired this past summer.   However, athletic director Tiffani-Dawn Sykes, attempted to hire an outside candidate which was met with swift and very vocal rejection.

Following several meetings and open discord, FAMU President Larry Robinson and Sykes, at the strong suggestion of the FAMU Board of Trustees, formed a search committee and engage an executive search firm to locate a new football coach.

After a couple of weeks, the recommendation to name Colzie is being moved forward with a press conference on Monday.
