FAMU marked a significant milestone yesterday as it broke ground on its newest residence hall, a state-of-the-art 700-bed complex poised to enrich student living experiences.  Once completed, the new dorm will increase the University’s on-campus housing capacity to more than 3,000 beds.

The groundbreaking ceremony, attended by university officials, students, and community members, symbolized a commitment to enhancing campus life and meeting the evolving needs of FAMU's student body. Situated adjacent to the 700-bed FAMU Towers residence halls, which opened in 2020, on the corner of Osceola Street and Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, the new dorms promises to be a modern and vibrant addition to the university landscape.

FAMU President Larry Robinson, expressed enthusiasm about the project, stating, "This new residence hall represents our dedication to fostering a supportive and inclusive living environment for our students. It will serve as a hub for academic and personal growth, enhancing the overall collegiate experience at FAMU."

The university has contracted with FINFROCK Construction, LLC,  to build the new residence hall.  FINFROCK was a partner, along with Construct Two, in building FAMU Towers. The university aims to ensure the highest standards of quality and safety throughout the construction process, prioritizing the well-being of future residents.

In the interim, FAMU is taking proactive measures to reserve dorm space for incoming freshman to ensure they have access to on-campus housing and provide a supportive transition into university life.

Returning students who don’t secure housing on-campus will have the option to explore FAMU's off-campus housing portal, which offers a range of accommodation choices to suit individual preferences and needs. The university is committed to assisting students in finding suitable living arrangements to facilitate their academic pursuits.

FAMU expects to admit approximately 1,600 freshmen in Fall 2024, reflecting its continued growth and appeal as an academic institution of choice. With a focus on academic excellence, diversity, and student success, FAMU remains dedicated to providing a supportive and enriching educational environment for all its students.
