FAMU is set to formally introduce Patrick Crarey II as the new leader of the men’s basketball program this afternoon at 2 pm.   Crarey's appointment comes with high hopes for revitalizing the team after two very challenging seasons.

Crarey steps into the spotlight with a solid background, having served as the head men’s basketball coach at St. Thomas University in Miami Gardens, Florida, a program within the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). Crarey brings with him a wealth of experience and a track record of success in the NAIA.

He will replace Robert McCullum, who led the Rattlers for seven seasons and went  a disappointing 6-23 record this past season. McCullum's tenure, which saw the team go 67-133, will officially come to an end when his contract expires on June 30.

Carey, a native of Washington, D.C., is an alumnus of La Sierra University, his coaching journey spans 15 years, with notable achievements along the way. His coaching career commenced at Takoma Academy in Maryland. With a commendable 61-27 record as a college coach, Crarey’s reputation for strategic prowess and leadership precedes him, offering promise to the Rattlers’ basketball program.

As Crarey assumes his new role, anticipation mounts among FAMU supporters, eager to witness the transformation he might bring to the team. With a blend of experience, passion, and a fresh perspective, all eyes are on Crarey as he embarks on this new chapter in his coaching career, aiming to steer the Rattlers towards success on the basketball court.
