The FAMU campus is buzzing with anticipation as more than 2,000 new, and returning students, prepare to embark on their 2024 academic journey. The move-in process for these eager students is set to commence on Monday, August 19, marking the beginning of an exciting period for the university.
According to the FAMU Housing Instagram page, the move-in process will be staggered to ensure a smooth transition for all students. The first wave of students living in FAMU Towers South and Polkinghorne Village West will kick off the event on August 19, followed by residents of Polkinghorne Village East, FAMU Towers North, Sampson, and Young Halls on August 21. The move-in schedule will then shift to Palmetto South Apts, Palmetto Phase 3 Apts, and Rattler Pointe on Friday, August 23. For those who may need extra time, Saturday has been designated as a catch-all day for any remaining move-ins.
In preparation for this significant event, FAMU Housing has been actively engaging with students and parents through informational Zoom sessions throughout the summer. These sessions have provided valuable insights and tips to ensure a seamless move-in experience.
Housing advisors have been emphasizing the importance of consulting the on-campus handbook for guidance on what to bring. "Just consult the on-campus handbook on what you should bring. There’s a lot of stuff that might not go well in a dorm, like extension cords, multi-plug adapters, candles and other flammable things," they advise.
To stay ahead of any updates or last-minute changes, FAMU Housing is encouraging students to stay alert on all social media platforms. "Check out our social medias, because we do tell a lot of tips and tricks on how to best function through move in, so check out the socials," they said.
As the university prepares to welcome its newest members, there's a palpable sense of excitement in the air. The move-in process is not just about settling into new living quarters; it's about embarking on a journey of personal growth, academic achievement, and building lifelong friendships.
The countdown to move-in day is on, and FAMU is ready to welcome its freshmen class with open arms.
