In a thrilling display of skill and resilience, the FAMU Rattlers secured a significant victory over the Alabama State Hornets with a score of 28-13. The game, which took place on the Hornets' home turf, saw FAMU outscore their opponents 21-6 in the second half, showcasing the team's ability to maintain momentum and secure a win.

The Rattlers' improved their standing to 3-2 on the season and marked their first SWAC win of the season, putting them at 1-0 in conference play. Despite the Hornets' efforts, FAMU managed to outgain them with a total of 308 yards compared to Alabama State's 279 yards, all while playing in front of a sizable homecoming crowd of 33,576.

Head coach James Colzie III praised his team's performance, emphasizing the highs and lows of the game and their ability to respond effectively. "The guys responded," he stated during his postgame press conference, highlighting the team's resilience and determination.

FAMU quarterback, Daniel Richardson, played a pivotal role in the victory, completing 20 of 30 passes for 196 yards and three touchdowns. His performance on the field was instrumental in leading the Rattlers to victory. Receiver A’Ceon Cobb caught two of those touchdown passes, while Goldie Lawrence secured the third, demonstrating the team's dynamic offensive capabilities.

This win is particularly significant for FAMU, as it extends their winning streak in conference games to 17, a testament to their dominance in the SWAC. As the defending SWAC champions, the Rattlers are setting a strong pace for the season, aiming to retain their title and continue their legacy of excellence in college football.
