The FAMU Rattler football team clinched a decisive 24-6 victory over the Southern University Jaguars, the top team in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC)-West, in front of a sparse home crowd of 16,478 fans. The victory extended the Rattlers home winning streak to 22 games, making it the second-longest home field advantage in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS).

The Rattlers' offense outgained the Jaguars with a staggering 404 yards compared to Southern's 205. The air attack was particularly potent, with FAMU racking up 278 yards through the air, a stark contrast to Southern's 83.

For the first time this season, the Rattlers put together a formidable running game, rushing for 126 yards, just edging out Southern's 122.  Nine games into the season, the Rattlers remain the sole team in the SWAC without a rushing touchdown.

The FAMU defense was nothing short of formidable, limiting Southern's offense to a one-dimensional strategy. The Rattlers allowed a mere 83 yards from Southern's passing yards. The Rattlers' defense was relentless, sacking Southern twice and recording multiple tackles for loss, further stifling the Jaguars' offensive efforts.

The Rattlers face another SWAC-West opponent this week when Texas Southern visits Bragg Stadium for FAMU's homecoming.
