The FAMU Rattler football team is looking to bounce back from a tough loss last week as they return to the cozy confines of Bragg Memorial Stadium this evening for a showdown against Southern University in a pivotal Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) matchup. The Rattlers are looking to extend their 21-game home winning streak,

Head Coach James Colzie III acknowledged the setback but expressed confidence in the team's resilience and focus on regaining momentum. "You've got no choice but to regroup," he said, emphasizing that the team's goals remain intact. Despite the challenging end against Jackson State, where missed opportunities shifted the game, Colzie believes the team is prepared to learn and move forward. "We can't lose this week on something that happened last week. Learning from it is crucial. We still control a lot if we take care of our end," he added.

The Rattlers will face a formidable Southern team that has performed well this season, particularly in close games. Southern enters the matchup with a 3-0 conference record and is known for their physicality and balanced attack. "They're a very good football team—athletic and built to play four quarters," Colzie said, recognizing Southern's knack for finishing games strong, as demonstrated in their recent win over Alcorn State.

Beyond strategy, FAMU will lean on the home-field advantage that Bragg Memorial Stadium provides. The energy from their passionate fans is not only a morale booster but also an asset that has been key to their success. Coach Colzie expects an electrifying atmosphere, as Rattler Nation is eager to support the team in their pursuit to stay undefeated at home.

"We'll have a great crowd; that's just how we do things here," Colzie said. "Protecting Bragg at all costs is our mindset. Southern's good, but so are we—especially here."

Kickoff is set for Saturday, October 26, at 7 p.m. Eastern, where the Rattlers aim to continue their home dominance.
