In the wake of a state audit revealing a $10.4M deficit, Gerald Dunn, interim vice president for fiscal affairs and CFO has left the university abruptly. After a very heated verbal altercation (read: cussing match) with the Queen *itch herself (aka Mad Black Woman, the Clean-Up Woman, etc., etc.), Mr. Gerald Dunn (Lockheed loaner) has stepped down as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Grace Ali, the university controller has been named acting vice president and CFO.
Financial Aid Director throws in towel
Joe Harrell, director of financial aid has resigned and is leaving FAMU for D.C. just one week before school starts. High turnovers, lack of finances, inability to deliver finanical aid to students, and difficulties moving the office of financial aid forward, and a fully operational ERP may been some of the reasons Mr. Harrell resigned. However, he considers himself moving to greener pastures with the USDOE.
Also, A&P and faculty still have not received their contracts for the 2006-2007 academic year.
and the shit keeps rollin'
ReplyDeleteFunny you can't even deal with your own people. I wouldn't be surprised if Soul Train himself decided to resign and take up a job at Dreamworks or something.

ReplyDeleteand the shit keeps rollin'
SMH
Is there any word about why the CFO resigned?
ReplyDeleteThe story says he a Castell got into a cussing match!!!!
ReplyDeleteA cussing match about what? What about that cussing match led to a resignation? What were the issues being (dis)cussed?
ReplyDeletelol@soultrain resigning and moving to Dreamworks....wouldn't be surprised if it happened.
ReplyDeleteHow much longer are we (the stakeholders) going to have to put up with this madness.
ReplyDeleteWith all of the constant turmoil, even a blind man can see that this woman is destroying FAMU.
She and her crew have got to GO!!
Time for A/C...After Castell!
ReplyDeleteRN, is there anyway you can do a graphic like Nightline to show how many days we've been teaching without contracts?
ReplyDeleteSo now financial aid has gone through Bryan Terry, Ken Tague, and now Joe Harrell. All the while, the students are ones who are truly suffering.

ReplyDeleteWhere is "godblesscastell" now?
ReplyDeleteJust returning from a cruise to this. I wonder what shoe will fall next.
ReplyDeleteBTW, does RN or anyone have the lastest update(s) on faculty contracts?
Did they go back on payroll Tuesday, Aug 8 or are they still in limbo about their employment status and the courses they will teach in about 3 weeks?
Finally, does their collective bargaining agreement allow them to work without a contract?
Godblesscastell doesn't have an answer for anything that requires actual thinking and careful consideration of facts. He/she is just another person who only sees FAMU issues at the surface and despises anyone who doesn't see Bryant as the messiah.
ReplyDeleteC'mon. You all know that person is just Rufus Little going by another name.
ReplyDeleteWe're on to you, Rufus. Get to work!
Amen to god bless castel! Touch not God's anointed and Castel is anointed to do this job. Don't play w/ this or go ahead and play if you will. This is not a laughing matter. This is much bigger than you may think. God is in control. In the end all truth will be revealed. Hopefully, you're on God's side.
ReplyDeleteGod did not tell Castell to report false financial numbers, decrease student enrollment, tear apart FAMU's research division, illegally withhold public information, and deny due process to FAMU employees.
ReplyDeleteShe was not listening to God when she did those things. God never told her to turn back the clock on progress at the largest single campus HBCU in America.
If you think those actions were divinely inspired, then you worship a god of lies, destruction, and incompetence.
Dear godblesscastell,
ReplyDeleteSince you are the resident Bryant defender on this board, please answer this: Why did Bryant falsely claim that Phyllis Gray-Ray's exit was a "joint decision," only to have a later newspaper investigation uncover a termination letter that proved Gray-Ray was fired? And why does Bryant still claim that all faculty need 18 graduate credit hours to teach any subject when the SACS standards clearly indicate that alternative qualifications (professional experience and research) are also acceptable? Why do you think it is acceptable for the interim president to lie to the public?
God Bless Castell said...8/14/2006 10:00 AM. No I am not rufus Little, I am sent from above to warn you people to cooperate or lose FAMU to "The Devil"
ReplyDeleteShiiit, what are you talking about? The damn devil is sitting in 400 Lee Hall.

ReplyDeleteRufus is working. He is to Carolyn Jones (your next NAA president) what Karl Rove was to George Bush. Between text messaging, emailing and phone calls for Carolyn (Drexel Univ Alum) you can't expect him to do much work for FAMU right now. Now can you?
I am the CFO of a Fortune 500 company, and a graduate of FAMU class of 1981. And I am in a quandry when I look at the state of affairs of my once once proud university. Tell me how can one person destroy an entire institution? How can morale be at such all time low? How can we be involved in lawsuit after lawsuit? And yet and still many believe that CVB has the best interests of the university first and foremost.
ReplyDeleteSign me off as,
Confused and bewildered
Dear Confused and Bewildered,
ReplyDeleteSince you have Fortune 500 accounting experience, let me ask you a hypothetical that parallels FAMU's current controversy. Does your company permit you to report net assets as a surplus? And what would your company do if you reported an $8M surplus that didn't exist, while failing to report a $10M deficit?
Anonymous 10:25 PM
ReplyDeleteShort answer is I would be shown the door with no chance for recourse. And I must say that if I indeed committed such an error that any student in Accounting 101, would not dare dream of. Doc Mobley would have my head on a platter.
"God bless castell" can't even respond to simple facts. Castell HAS NOT been rectifying "years of apathy and mismanagement." She is making matters WORSE!
ReplyDeletePlease explain how Bryant has made any improvements in properly recording FAMU's finances. The state auditor general's office audit proved that Bryant's $8M surplus claim was false! There is no surplus at all. The net asset is not a surplus! Bryant announced a surplus that didn't exist and failed to share news of the $10M deficit.
That is not turning FAMU around financially. That is mismanagment -pure and simple.
To GodBlessCastell:
ReplyDeleteYou are so fervent in your support of CVB, and mention God's name frequently. But please tell me where does God say be arrogant, abrasive, and act as though you are one without fault. Granted we all make mistakes, but we admit our shortcomings and learn from them. If one has indeed put God first in their life, just don't you think one would learn humility.
Part of being a leader in any field is being able to accept fault and admit shortcomings. And then setting forth to rectify them.
Show me where CVB has done as such.
- The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good people to do nothing.
ReplyDeleteWhen are the stakeholders going to take arms and fight?
god bless castell,
ReplyDeleteOnce again I see you are blinded by utter devotion to CVB. Not once have I said that leaders do not have to make hard and tough decisions. As that comes with the territory. I said when said leader makes a mistake or takes his charges down the wrong path, be humble enough to admit that you made a mistake. Not once has CVB done so. I have made mistakes and have been placed in situations were reform was needed. When questioned I have been been strong enough to stand up and admit those mistakes and seek counsel of others to reach amicable resolutions. That my friend is humility.

ReplyDelete"Show me where CVB has not shown humility and grace."
You have to be kidding. She is constantly arrogant, deceitful, and dismissive of others. She has never shown faculty or staff any meaningful respect, and continues to govern by the "my way or the highway" maxim.
And I am just about to puke from reading GodBlesscastell's arrogant (and misguided) statements about God having anointed Castell Bryant. Truly, as a Christian, I find it disgusting. GBC should read the beatitudes and look for any sign of meekness, mercy, or pureness of heart in Dr. Bryant's reign. I sure haven't seen any. Or read Proverbs (15:22 "Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.") and consider why faculty have been completely shut out of any semblance of shared governance. No offense, but I'm pretty sure God doesn't want us to be blind and stupid, but discerning.
God Bless Castell,
ReplyDeleteWhere was the mercy when CVB fired a faculty member for excessive absences. When in fact their Dean presented documentation of said faculty member showing prove of them going through chemotherapy.
Hence another lawsuit that the university has fallen into under CVB's dictatorship.
Gee, that doesn't look suspicious at all.
ReplyDelete*HEADDESK*
God Bless Castell is just trying to provoke anger. There is no way he/she believes what he/she is saying. I smell an agent provocateur!
