New evidence discovered in hazing case

The Kappa hazing trial has been postposed after attorneys for the accused introduced new evidence.

The evidence, court documents state, is a report prepared by a Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. hearing officer that contains names and statements of witnesses. It seems that the names of the potential hazers named in the investigation by KAPsi National office are different from young men currently on trail.

Also the document from the Kappa national office identifies witnesses, which prosecutors weren't aware of.

The trial is now scheduled for the week of Sept. 25.

  1. Damn! What's up with this breaking news about new witnesses and new evidence?

  2. Basically, 4 of the 5 arrested were nowhere in the vicinity of the incident and the FAMU po-po's on the direction of Cast-hell are trying to strong arm these guys into snitchin on what they think they know.

In other words, let the games begin

  4. Exactly...that cat and his family are setting up FAMU and the Kappas for a lawsuit. They need to tell the truth man....

  5. I lost all respect for "Killer" Ray Lewis for the very same thing.

Two young men were stabbed to death by someone in his party following the Super Bowl a few years back. Did he witness it or have knowledge of what happened? Probably. But this notion of "street honor" and "no snitching" left these two men victims of murder with no apparent perpetrator.

If 4 of 5 were not there, they could darn well get to the bottom of who was, if they had any honor. But we all know about honor among thugs.

  6. That is the dumbest comment that I have ever heard. The law does not require anyone to stop a crime or report a crime....

    ReplyDelete
  7. ^^^I second that emotion...

First of all, Brother Brown, all you know of the Ray Lewis incident is what the white media told you.

I was at the club and trust me it is and always is much more than meets the eye.

Second of all, how is the view from the top of the soapbox.

All the hell any of us rational minded people are asking is that our administration, law enforcement et al...get the shit right before they rush to judgement.

Once they find and convict the asshole perps...fry their asses, however before you go poppin about all the nonsense you are spoutin...let the facts prevail.

  8. What's the lay of the land with these new "witnesses"? What's going on here? Can someone please give me the 4-1-1 on what's happening with the proscecuiton, the defense, the victim and the hazers. I'm serious. I'm just coming here (to the site) and I'm just trying to get the real scoop on all of this. So could someone out there elighten a sister?

  9. The new witnesses are the people that they never bothered to interview because Castell and crew were on a mission.

There was no investigation by the police, because nobody wanted to talk to them so they just started arresting folks without any real evidence and now it is about to blow up in their face.

  11. I was at the club and trust me it is and always is much more than meets the eye.

Oh boy, the white media set Killer Ray up!! Maybe those two guys stabbed each other to death. Is that what you witnessed, since you were there?

The law does not require anyone to stop a crime or report a crime....

This is why hazing will continue. This is why ghettoes remain ghettoes. Nobody saw nothing!

Everyone talks all high minded about frying the dudes who did it, but where the rubber meets the road, there is all this duplicity. If the wrong men were arrested, they can clear the water by sundown by supplying the names of the true criminals. But that is too much like right.

    ReplyDelete
  12. ^^^no my misguided uninformed one...

Ray was too drunk to see anything. That is fact.

The knuckleheads that were killed were layin in wait behind the limo trying to rob Ray and his friends when they were coming out of the club.

That case should have never made it to trial but the white media and DA saw an opportunity and it backfired...but I suppose that never happens in your world...now does it.
Whatever is white is right and the brother can't ever be a victim of circumstance.

    You are a joke...

Let me tell you something, half the stuff that happens in our community no one sees.

    It is always "I heard..."

Duplicity seems to be your calling card from the top of the soapbox.

Change your name from BrotherBrown to Armstrong Williams and buy a clue

  13. Castell went after those Kappa's that were listed as the pledge committee. Their names were on file in Student Activities Office. Each Greek letter organization in addition to getting approval from their national offices, has to get approval from the university. In essence the university conducted no investigation at all. The only Kappas interviewed were those and on trial and some officers. The national headquarters conducted an thorough investigation that has now surfaced and has the DA panicking.

As the dust settles look for several civil suits being filed against the university. From the victim and from those on trail.

  14. CastHell and Lizzie at it again. Damn, I wish they would get their facts straight before making the university look like a fool.

  15. If what Anon. @ 9/11/2006 7:03 PM says is true, then this will be another clear indicator that FAMU's legal affairs are in a state of crisis. I hope, for the credibility of our university, that the administration did not act in a rash manner. However, judging from the present legal fiascos with Billy Joe, Phyllis Gray-Ray, Percy Luney, and the SBI 10, I am not optimistic.

  16. This road leads back to the governor's mansion, our BOT and CastHell's legal eagle.

When you are trying to dig a ditch, you better dig two. And the other is the one for you.

The insiders know that Casthell did not do due diligence because she was too busy trying to get rid of one trustee (Kappa) and an employee (Kappa?). This agent Orange, scorch the earth method they use just does not work. This sweeping effect of trying to smear and destroy people's reputation is costing the university much needed money, time and personnel that could very well be doing something else beneficial to the university. For example, where the hell is the recruitment plan that we have been waiting for a year to be unveiled?

  18. So where and how does Chuck Hobbs fit into all of this if he's the defense atty. for the accused and was hired by the University to defend the accused. And it's the prosecutors who say that there's new evidence? Or is this what I'm reading here? CVB and Lizzie Mac
are in a world of confusion. By the time they leave the university, the university will have court dates set up in 2035 and will most likely lose every damn case. So, again, what's the deal with Chuckie Cheese and the defense?

  19. Yeah, Rufus has been selling a whole lot of his Kappa brothers for a piece of silver. I still can't get over his none Florida Bar self stabbing Trustee Alston in the back. But I wouldn't be surprised if he is a part of this crap and the play-play investigation they did of this whole pitiful mess. Just look at how he and CastHell investigated themselves.

    SMH!

  21. By the time Bryant leaves FAMU, we will wish for the Gainous days. There will be so much undercover stuff having gone on until we might be, financially, in worse shape than ever. I bet we'll see who got paid under the table, near the table, beside the table. Everywhere but over the table. Names will be surfacing like nobody's business. Mark my word. And when it all happens, remember you read it here first! You'll say, "I remember that blogger saying that just a while back!" (But, of course, we all know this is going to transpire anyway.)

    ReplyDelete
  22. I can't figure out why the University was not working in tandem with the Kappa National Office and why did't we do due diligence.

That dumbass letter Castell sent out is further proof that it is not just a few alumni that are concerned and vocal about the stupid decisions she and her subordinates make that keep the University in the public eye and looking like we don't know what we are doing.

I bet the prosecutors had some damn strong arse words today with the general counsel from FAMU.

Damn, we keep it up we will have enough drama for a episode on how not to run a university.

  23. The defense introduced the report.

  24. Damn, Armstong Williams. That is truly a first. I have to laugh at that, and the 'what the white man says' line. I'm just a fellow rattler with a POV.

If you say that is what happened to Ray and you were there, I guess I'll take your word, though it sounds like you are saying those boys got what they deserved.

If those frat boys hadn't been hazing, we would not be talking about this. The whole chapter got banned until '13 for the actions of a few. Maybe you have a higher tolerance for this than I do, but sometimes organizations need to clean their own house, for the sake of the reputation of the organization. More to my point, the ones responsible, if not those indicted, ought to man up and get their frat brothers, and OUR UNIVERSITY, off the hook.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Brotherbrown,

Whether or not they man up, as you say, the university is still on the hook. No if, ands, or buts. How can the university not be on the hook if indeed the Kappa 5 are not the guilty parties? Please explain that one to me?

  27. Word up is that the university just settled a couple cases a couple weeks ago. After a minute, we will have to change our name to SettleUp University or BankRupt University. Either way you look at it, it's sho to go down.

  28. If it is true that all of the accused were not even at the scene of the hazing incident(s), then this shows how far FAMU has deviated from "Excellence With Caring." The administration may have tried to demonstrate that it cares for the wellbeing of students by suspending the Kappas until 2013; however, it may not have considered the negative impact of kicking students out of school before the results of the investigation were finalized. Now, these guys have lost two semesters in school, had to file a lawsuit against the University, and they may not have even committed the crime.
I'm not so sure if I would want to send my kids to a University like this. FAMU is not doing enough to address the culture of hazing, and it is doing too much to hinder students from reaching excellence, without due care for whether or not they actually committed the crime.

  29. To the anonymous at 10:23 pm, that is one damned stupid comment. The University didnt hire anyone's defense lawyer, these boys hired Hobbs and Richard Allen this summer after the white lawyers that couldnt keep them from being dismissed from school by Dr. Bryant got fired. I went to FAMU High with Hobbs and he is one of the smartest kids that came out of there. He must be doing a good job to have the prosecutor call the case off.

By the way, Hobbs didn't take much shit from folks back in the day either, I bet that none of you niggas will go to that courthouse and say anything negative to his face!

When all is said and done, you don't know who hired whom, and who did WTF. You don't know all the details, and what's knowing Chuck E. Cheese in high school's got to do with mfing thing. WTF do you know, BiddyBoo? What law school did you not graduate from and what nickel & dime job are you on right about now?

  34. Like one blogger said, I bet Parks & Crump, Skip Hunter and other reputable attorneys would nt have touched this mfing case with a ten-foot mfing pole. Folk'll do any mfing thing for $$. Some mfing cases you just may need to walk the F away from. They'll be others, and if you're a young attorney, you'll have plenty time to make the grade.

  37. I don't know why anyone on this blog is surprised with the last minute info popping up. All along people have been complaining on the TDO that Liz McBride is horrible and due diligence is not a part of this administration's operandi. Just look it how they handled the Mike Brown investigation.

There are some 100 lawsuits under this administration and they keep mounting. Just look for more to come.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Look, the truth will come out very soon and when it truly does, the kappas will have a new frat house cause they're gonna sue the sh!t outta Famu. DueDiligence? I was one of the students in the panel and when I say there was ZERO due diligence, these boys were denied graduation and kicked out of school on sketchy details AT BEST!.
I dont condone what the Kappas did at all (although i think it takes two to haze and as I realize that each of them had a decision, on both ends of the hazing)
they were definitely mistreated, and castell is going to have more legal trouble than FAmu needs right now.
Mark my words, charges willbe dropped, civil suits will follow, FAMU's Rep will be in the shitter AGAIN!!

  40. It has come to my attention that the field officer from Kappa Alpha Psi wanted to investigate this incident in tandem with the university. When this was introduced to the powers that be, they declined and said under no uncertain terms would this occur.

  41. Are we sure some of you all have a degree, because some of you don't make sense and some of you obviously can't read well.

How could Hobbs (defense lawyer) be hired by the same university that accused the young men of hazing and kicked them out of school. Why would the accusers defend the accused? I think people on this site are so depressed, desperate, bored or ignorant that they have to make up things to satisfy their sick minds. Can we please act like adults- intelligent, educated adults. Has anyone thought to call Hobbs or the university to check on this, or even the five young men? No ... I didn't think so! I probably know more about what's going on at FAMU and with this case than any of you and the things you are discussing make no sense to the truth.

As to speaking untruths as they relate to this incident.
    1) Information from my post came from the field officer that did the investigation for Kappa Alpha Psi.

    2) As to speaking to those accused, I am in constant communication with one of them.

Granted I don't live in Tallahassee and I am not privavy to insitutional knowledge. I am just a concerned alumnus that has supported and will continue to support my alma mater.

However, that being said, if they had listened to him in the first case this case would have been settled and all parties would have been dealt with fairly. That is the way he operates.
