The BOT Executive Committee is meeting now to discuss, among other things, approving the contract for the new president. We'll let you know how this meeting goes. The meeting is scheduled to run from 10 a.m. to 12 noon today.

Shirley Cunningham matter
Elizabeth Mc Bride brought to the committee's attention about the state's recommendation that FAMU sue to recover all monies paid to Shirley Cunningham, the infamous donor and "ghost employee".

Trustees maintained that the Cunningham instance is the only instance uncovered by the payroll audit in which no work was peformed.

George Allen recommended that all parties involved in the Cunningham matter be sued as well.

Current payroll problem
Castell said she would set-up a process (policies & procedures) to ensure that nothing like this happens again. Holmes asked wether the problem was structural or fiscal. Mrs. Bryant sid this is certainly not a fiscal problem.

Bryant then backed tracked and said that she will identify the causes for the paroll safu and develop a remedy for each. She still has no idea how many folks have not been paid.

Castell painted a pcture of a hiring process -- at the department level-- gone wild.

Castell stated she has personally reviewed and signed off on each "on demand" payroll check.

Bryant continued to maintain that the University does not have a fiscal problem, but that departments may have fiscal problems.

Diallo pointed out that departments doen't have the power to hire anyone, departments can only recommend and the Provost must approved.

Contracts of former Presidents on payroll

we are going to skip over this for now. they discussing the new presidents contract now.

New President's (proposed) contract

Trustee Bill Jennings negotiated this contract with Dr. Ammons (thru his attorney)
+ Length of contract 3-year rolling contract

+ This is the fourth president since the creation of the FAMU BOT

+ start date June 15th (their is some flexibity there, based on negotiations and ratification of the contract)

+ proposed base salary $325,000 (only $225,000 of this will be paid by the state)

+ performance bounce 25-30% based on salary bases on meeting goals negotiated with the BOT Chair.

+ 12% annuity based on base salary.

+ Housing allowance of $36,000. This would not be paid if he choose to live on campus.
(also mentioned that the BOT needs to decide on making improvements to the President's house in order to make it habital)

+ Automobile allowance of $1,000 per month (this is consistent with what Gainous and Castell got).

+ Contract can be voided by the FAMU BOT by a super majority ( 9 votes)

The Executive Committee of the FAMU BOT approved the contract. And will recommend it to the full BOT.

--- meeting over at 11:43 a.m.---

  1. we can sue Big Shirley, but only if McBride is NOT the one handling the case. The way she messes up ish, chances are we'll end up OWING money to Cunningham.

  2. Nah, Liz wants to hire outside council both in FL & KY to go after his assets.

  3. Cunningham did not give himself a contract. I suspect the Provost offered the contract and he signed the contract. This is a case that should be left along. The University will spend more money litigating the case than they can get back from Cunnigham. Liz needs to shut-up and pack her bags and catch a ride back to WPB with CVB. Liz needs to voluntarily return her license to the Florida Bar. Liz is trying to grasp for a straw because of all of her ill-fated recommendations on all other legal issues to the current interim administration. Please Liz, shut-up because your legal knowledge leaves a lot to be desired. Liz is a fraud faking as an attorney.

  4. No need for them to do minutes now. They can just check online to find out what happened. LOL

  5. Just because Big Liz has a license to practice law in Florida doesn't mean she knows what she's doing. Folks have driver's licenses to drive in Florida, but they drive the wrong way down the street if they're drunk. My point? Just 'cause old girl got a license doesn't necessarily mean she knows what she's doing. I agree that she needs to pack up the old suitcase and head South, right long with old Cassie, the tv-watching-western-woman. Both of them have done enough damage to the school. Old Lizzie couldn't win a case if her name was Lizzie Case.

  6. Will this blemishing of the FAMU name ever end? This school is willing to take on more litigation (in two states) when it can't meet payroll? If that much money, resources and manpower is available why can't it be used to get our various schools on firm footing? This is why we cringe when we get donation requests from the school. We need to know where the money trails and gravy trains lead.

  7. Is any of the previous payroll audit mess related to the current action going on where ALL OF FAMU OPS and USPS employee timesheets and certifications from 1999 to June 2006 is currently being compiled? Rumor has it the Dept. of Labor is involved. RN can you find anything out?

  10. The University needs to file a lawsuit against Castell and Lizzie to reclaim their wages over the last two years for destroying FAMU. Lets see that would bring the school more than $1M, excluding the benefits. The University needs to also reclaim wages from Altha, Janie, and Debbie. This would erase part of the University's deficit. It can also be used to pay some of the employees who have not received their checks this year.

I can't help but notice the RN never came back to this.
No FAMU president has ever been turned out after leaving office. Dr.s Perry, Smith, Humphries or Gainous.

Just for the record are they talking about keeping Dr. Bryant on in some capacity after the transition?
