It's official. Interim president Castell Bryant this afternoon told her staff that today will be her last day as interim president of FAMU.

The annoucement was supposed to come at a 4:30 p.m. news conference, but Mrs. Bryant relented and missed the 5 p.m./6 p.m. news cycle.

Mrs. Bryant who's lack of tact and overall management skills made her one of the most controversial figures in FAMU history, had been asked to step down two weeks ago immediately following the spring graduation, but did not do so until today.

While Mrs. Bryant's letter of resignation list an effective date of May 31, we understand that she spent the entire week cleaning out her office and is expected to use up her leave time.

Castell to resign

Here's a copy of Mrs. Bryant's resignation letter:

  4. Bout damn time! Send in the Police to escort her ass out! The worst period in FAMU's history is about to officially end. Thank God!

  5. That bitch better run! Unfortunately, this will give all of the entrenched leech-sucking Castell folks at FAMU a month with no management or oversight to sink in their tenacles before Ammons comes. The university should immediately put every paycheck and spending authorization on hold until Ammons approves them. It will, of course, be necessary for Ammons to begin immediately.

  6. Can some of you ignorant people show a little class and compassion for this laday? She doesn't deserve this mean spirited, classless criticism. Come on people. Enough's enough.

  7. 7:00-"ignorant people"? Why don't you go help the witch pack her bags!

  8. Oh, Thank You God!!!!

We are not being ignorant. This woman has caused so much destruction that the respect for her is gone. She is about to reap everything that was done at the University. You are the one who is ignorant if you can not see the damage that has been done to this institution. So, the post that called us ignorant, Why don't you escort her to 1-10!!!!

So does this mean that May 31st is Orange and Green Day?? Keep us posted Da Rattler!

  9. I want her gone just as much as the next person, but I'll believe it when I SEE THE RESIGNATION LETTER. Or a press release or something!! I just don't want to get my hopes up falsely again!

  11. Although I want(ed) to see her go, I am disgusted to see (or hear) the use of the b-word (or the n-word for that matter).

Folk have already began to suck famu dry. I hope that their deeds are quickly discovered, as well as they.

  12. Catell V. Bryant missed her moment in the sunshine of FAMU because she is an ignorent, mean spirited, evil witch. Sorry but the the truth is the light. I have never seen one person garner as many enemies as this witch has in such a short period of time. The woman is ill and had no business at the helm of this institution.

Sadly, none of her friends could tell her any thing. When your friends can not give you advise, you need to stop hanging with folks you have not confidence in. That is what friends are far, fool.

GOOD BYE AND GOOD RIDANCE. WHERE IS BRANKER AND JENKINS HIDING? BEWARE, THE RATTLERS WILL STRIKE AND STRIKE AND STRIKE AGAIN.

"COLLEGE OF LOVE AND CHARITY, WE GATHER AROUND THOU NOBLE SHRINE, WE LIFT OF VOICE IN PRAISE TO THEE AND ASK A BLESSING ALL DIVINE. FAMU, FAMU, WE LOVE THEE WE WILL FIGHT FOR THEE WHERE EVER THE BATTLE BE..."

  13. Well her "my way or the highway" approach to management was her undoing. Castell does not exhibit the temperament, classical management skills or soft skills to lead FAMU or any other complex institution.

Despite her claims of achievement, all I saw was her constantly pointing fingers of blame at previous administrations. Still, I cannot walk around campus and see one single improvement that occurred on her watch.

As a university president, she was a disaster.

    ReplyDelete
  14. To 8:33 PM,

What do you mean "...BEGAN to suck us dry...". Where have you been, this didn't start last week, last month, or even last year!!! Enough is enough. I beleive even the Lord get tired.

  16. "FAMU, FAMU I love thee......" Oh, how it does my heart good to see that resignation letter. I have printed it out and posted it in my office. This made my Friday night and now I am going to have a toast to celebrate. Oh my, singing the alma mater never felt so good. This is so special!!!! And she had the nerve to say that she did what she thought was "needed and right". What the hell ever! You do not love FAMU and we are glad you have ended your "association" with our beloved university. Now hear ye....I hereby declare May 31st Orange and Green Day. Let's all wear our orange and green proudly to show our support for the new administration. Things are already looking up. Thank you God!!!!! Oh, happy day, oh happy day!!!!

Your comment doesnt really deserve a response because you're obviously a total idiot. FAMU didn't deserve the treatment received by that woman...
She, along with her friends, have tried to destroy my beloved alma mater since 2005. What she deserves more is a good ole fashion ass whupping for jeopardizing the chance for my generations to come to attend FAMU.

You can go to hell right along with Castell!

  22. I totally agree with the above post. Debra Austin has been appointed the leadership role until Dr. Ammons arrives in July. However, it has been noted that she is on leave herself. Hmm....

  23. Who will be the interim Provost then?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Anon, 7:00--have you lost your frigging mind??? Castell Bryant showed ABSOLUTELY no class when she mistreated employees at the university: she had long-time employess--as well as short-term--employees escorted off campus by law enforcement officials, she derailed the university universally, she disrespected almost everyone who came in contact with her, including the parents of studets at the university, she had that ol tired-assed, foul-mouth LizzieMac help to dismiss lawsuits against her and the university, she was a horrible steward of the university's image, and I, for one, am damn glad to see her ass getting the hell up outta Lee Hall and away from our school. And if you had any damn sense, you would be, too. You've got some damn nerve, talking about giving the woman a break. She ain' thought to give anybody a damn thing, much less a mfing break. The best thing she has done since she's been at the university is to (have someone) craft that letter, because we all know, Castell Bryant ain't no kind of writer, 'cause if you know like I know, most of the mess that's come out of that office seems like it was written by a ten-year-old in a remedial class. Give Castell a break? Yeah, right.

    ReplyDelete
  25. RN, now you know you didn't have to go there with that witch-on-a-broomstick image nex to Castell's letter. And that moving truck. You know you oughts to quit it. That's some funny shit. Damn.

    ReplyDelete
  26. YOU ALL MUST REMEMBER THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES BROUGHT THIS ON OUR UNIVERSITY BY HIRING HER AND SUPPORTING HER FOR 2 YEARS. ALL OF THE BOARD MEMBERS NEED TO BE FIRED...INCLUDING REV. HOLMES!!!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Clean up that BOT also!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  28. When Dr. Bryant gave her first address to faculty, she repeatedly boasted that she would be forthright and direct and give straight answers.

Then, in the question period, she responded to every challenging question by evasion or contempt.

I knew then that we had a problem.

At least part of that problem has been having a president who is overconfident in her own intuitive ability to "know" what is happening and what is right to do. Without needing to consult.

The result has been what looks like a series of arbitrary, rather idealistic actions by someone out of touch with the day to day realities of how this institution runs.

Bryant's purchasing procedure is a great example. You cannot purchase everyday supplies without getting the president's signature on the requisition. That produced a procedure so cumbersome that it consumed huge amounts of staff time needlessly and frustrated everyone needing to have things purchased.

This bizarre purchasing procedure was put into place 2 1/2 years ago in an attempt to get control over purchasing. Well, it just stayed in place, and, as far as I can tell, nobody followed up on it to gain any real control over purchasing, track orders, or do anything constructive.

It was just another symbolic action, designed to look good, taking the first step in the right direction but then stopping, making the problem worse than it was.

It would be good to have FAMU's procedures made workable, understandable, and rational -- with people at every level dedicated to getting things done rather than so scared of breaking the changing rules that they bog everything down.

  29. Okay transition team, lets see if we can get those VP's to do the same. Lizzie & Little should be the next to go. Hey here is a thought, Let's make Lewis interim Provost and rid ourselves of Austin, after all she has rid herself of FAMU. I hear kitchen cabinet little is planning a move to the big office on the 4th floor, bet he doesnt see whats about to hit his chicken little behind

    ReplyDelete
  30. Don't forget that there are many faculty and staff at the law school that have been riding the Austin/Castell derailment while they collect huge paychecks and other benefits.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Hey RN is it true that Castell is asking for a security detail!

    ReplyDelete
  32. If so, it her own deeds that make it necessary and should not be at the expense of the university. She's made enough to pay for that herself!!!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Don't forget Jackson and that Henderson guy at EIT. $675,000 indeed. That's annual salaries for about 20 staff members. I can't imagine what that consultant could have done to justify such an amount give the state of campus technology.

  34. Who will serve in the Presidency before Ammons gets here on the 2nd of July? Or is Ammons coming sooner?

Um, not exactly. It'll be better than that.

  37. A security detail? For what? To carry out the loot, uhm, unearned bonuses, salary and benefits?

  38. Please let us use decorum & finess, we should not be like the person who is leaving. We all know who she is and what she & others have done in the name of 'cleaning up' our beloved university. Please let us not stoop to her & her evildoers level.

As much as I hate what she has done and allowed others to do, and continue to do, we must be reminded that God sits high and looks low and her judgement will be in time. It has not yet come.

Others who are left who feel the same way she does, remember your time is on the way. You cannot hide behind her anymore. I know you are trying to prepare for what is to come, but believe me the new administration will see beyond that. They will be persons who really beleive "College of Love & Charity" and "Excellence with Caring".

Let us FAMUans stop the name calling and address the upcoming days with dignity, reverence, forgiveness, LOVE & CHARITY.

We should not wait until May 31st to begin showing our Orange & Green. Let us begin TODAY.

  40. I wish her the best...I honestly do. but quietly dr. bryant...where do you think you went wrong?

    ReplyDelete
  41. 12:54---the thing is, is that Dr. Bryant doesn't believe that she "went wrong" anywhere during her entire time at the helm. that's what's so astounding: that the woman believes that she did (and could do) no wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  42. so does G.W. Bush

    ReplyDelete
  43. Anon. that mention Jackson & Henderson, did you say $675,000?!! WTF? And Castell wanted to save money, ha. Try cutting that salary and getting rid of those well paid consultants, that's 10 million right there. The definition of a consultant is to come in, teach your employees and leave. Maybe come back every once in awhile, but not serve as an actual employee and paying consultant money. Idiots.

    ReplyDelete
  44. AMEN - poster 7:54 PM

It's so easy to be simple and lash out, it's takes class and courage to take the "high road".

Let us demonstrate to your young people how men and women of courage and class conduct themselves and not stoop to the level of CVB and her administration.

    ReplyDelete
  45. To all you viewer: Dr. Bryant
showed no comparsion for all the people she fired and had them escored out by security. How do you think thoses employee felt. you have to be very careful how you treat people. Now she know how it feel's. Dr. Greenleaf is going to get what's coming to her too. Be careful all of you managers that has abuse your employee's. The pass five year's (excellent with caring has really been a big joke).

    ReplyDelete
  46. we can't blame the board for Castell. Castell was handed picked by Gov. Bush. The board was not Castell boss, Gov. Bush was and they could not touch Castell. Castell was since here to destory this University and she did a dam good job in trying. If you may record Rev Holmes wrote the Governor a letter asking him to step in. It wasn't until Bush term was over when the board started to clip Castell wings.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Dr. Bryant made two big mistakes

    (1) beleiving in who was controlling her financial.

    (2) convincing herself that peoplesoft is ready to take on anything you put in it ( oops wrong answer). That's how Gaious lost his job.

    ReplyDelete
  48. dats not how gainous lost his job...he wuzn't obeying orders so his black arse had to go!!!

    ReplyDelete
  49. that's not even her signature idiots

    ReplyDelete
  50. What will happen to all of those folks, er, friends that Castell gave jobs and bog $$ to? Like: Ain'-Got-a-Clue Greenleaf; Ridiculous Rufus; Man-Up Maxey; Maxey's mom, Eva, who, by the way, is a nice lady; Know-Nothing Hobbs; JuneBugJunnie; Atilla the Hun Altha; ol' foul-mouth-cussing ass LizzieMac?
