FAMU turns in financial statement on time

Florida A&M turned in its 2006-2007 financial statement to the Florida Board of Governors on Monday. University finance and information systems staff logged nearly 10,000 hours (since July 2) combing through the documents and records, left by former interim president Castell Bryant, to get them in a manner that all records and entries on the statement could be documented and supported.

New president James Ammons told students and faculty, in forums yesterday, that he is comfortable with the financial statements that his team prepared and is looking forward to the University getting a pretty good audit this year.

A clean audit is the first step to getting the university off of SACS probation, Ammons said.

  1. Now, that's the way we roll! I think we're headed in the right direction. Despite the madness, mayhem and debauchery of yesteryear's administration of FG & CVB, Dr. Ammons & Co are on it.

  3. A poster named "Cholly" in the www.onnidan.com forum made a very good point:

"This should make MOST of you wonder why the previous administration couldn't sole the problems at FAMU since Dr. A has been able to address the majority of the more public concerns in just 80 days on the job.

I'll tell you why: isn't it OBVIOUS that they didn't WANT to solve them?

In fact, since the previous two administrations CREATED the problems at FAMU, it was in their interests to KEEP Dr. Ammons from getting the job because they KNEW he would be able to erase their malicious damage.

    Think about it...."

  4. I bet it kills CVB to read this.

  5. The word is that CVB and Jim Corbin were mad as hell when FAMU received the Time-Princeton Review's 1997 "College of the Year" award. They hated anything that credited Fred Humphries as being strong leader.

CVB had a definite desecration list. Shutting down the FAMU room in the Tallahassee Regional Airport was only the first step. It's said that she also wanted to permanently relocate the "College of the Year" statue to a less conspicuous spot on campus (i.e.: the band "Patch" off Osceola).
