Homecoming is Nov.1 against Morgan State

FAMU released its 2008 football schedule yesterday afternoon which features five home games in Bragg Memorial Stadium.

The Rattlers will start the 2008 season at home on August 30 against Alabama State and won't return home until October, with back-to-back games against Winston-Salem State (Oct. 11) and South Carolina State (Oct. 18).

Homecoming 2008 will be November 1 against Morgan State. The final home game will be on November 15 against Hampton University.

The schedule includes road contest against Delaware State (Sept. 6) in Dover; Howard University in Philadelphia, most likely at Franklin Field (Sept. 20), Tennessee State in the Atlanta Football Classic (Sept. 27), at the Georgia Dome.

In October, FAMU treks to Norfolk (Va.) State (Oct. 25); travels to Greensboro to take on North Carolina A&T (Nov. 8), before closing out their road schedule in Orlando against archrival Bethune-Cookman in the Florida Classic (Nov. 22), at the Florida Citrus Bowl.

Missing from the schedule is a much anticipated renewal of a home-and-home series with Southern University. Former FAMU Athletic Director had signed a 10 year contract for a home and home series with Southern in April of 2006. Southern's absence from this year's schedule is a clear indication that the series may be in jeopardy.

Earlier this year the home game between Alabama State was called into question by a potential scheduling snafu reported by the ASU athletic director.

Game times will be announced later.

  4. With only two non-conference openings a year, in order to bring in Southern, we're going to have to rethink continuing on with being locked into the ATL Classic with TSU ...

Alternating TSU and Southern ... and playing them every OTHER year from now on ... might be the best way to go - from both a competitive as well as a financial standpoint.

  7. 12:04 Uncalled for. Whatever personal issue you have with Mr. Hayes needs to be addressed directly with him. I'm sick of all these internet cowards.

  8. FAMU has two OPEN weeks 9/13 and 10/4. We're allowed to play 12 games this year, so is there a possibility we can add ANOTHER home game?

As far as ASU, FAMU has a long rivalry with the bumblebees that goes back to our SIAC days. But still something has to be figured out to put SU back on the schedule very soon. With there being 10 MEAC football programs, members should not have to be locked in to play 9 conference games. That stupid idea conflicts with our $$$ games, rival out of conference games, and scheduling other quality FCS comp (App St, Ga Southern, etc).

  9. drunk BILL HAYES will not accept appointments. Therefore, you need to address your coward attitude statement toward BILL HAYES. Not the person who express there opinion about him.
