  1. Winter Haven. Isn't that where Dr. Ammons is from?

  2. the new associate provost, dr. anna vaughn-cooke, is being paid lots & lots of $$. where is all of this $$ coming from, in light of the fact that the university is struggling to remain afloat (to listen to the university administrators tell it). she was the former dean of the graduate school, she left, now she's back. are we doing the same old, same old, recycling thing again? pretty soon, folks will be calling for dr. ammons' head on a stick. my question: why does a university that is struggling financially need an associate provost, especially in light of the fact that enrollment is down to 11,000 students. i can see a big, research university--30,000+ students--having an associate provost, but a school that is practically beggin students from all walks of life to come? maybe an associate provost in the future when enrollment grows, but now? i ain' feelin' this.

  3. With the success FAMU & its students are having right now, who in their right mind will question Dr. Ammons?

  6. 12:19--LOTS are people "in their right mind" will question people. Is "questioning" people not something people are allowed to do no matter what the circumstances are? I mean, who just sits back and says nothing just because a "person in authority" says something is so? Not to equate the two measures here, but let me draw this very simple analogy for you, since, obviously you're not one to "question" anything and/or anybody about anything, and you just take whatever folks tell you and go on about your daily affairs: Had there been more questions of the Current Occupant in the White House, the nation would not find itself in the mess that it is in.

  7. plus, 12:19--you're an outsider looking in. i'm an insider looking in. everything looks rosy wehn you've got blinders on. holla.

  8. "i'm an insider looking in."

And that's the problem. Perhaps you have been on the insider's payroll tooooooo long.
It's time for you to hit the road, Jack.

  9. 2:32--It's Jill, by the way. And also, btw, insiders know much more than what most of you folk know by reading this blog. And how do you know how long I've been there? It's not rocket science to know things in short order. A person doesn't have to have cob webs growing from a chair to read and hear things and be told things first-hand. Comprehnde'? Probably not. (But perhaps it is for you.)

  11. Jill,

Stop complaining, spending FAMU's time on the internet, and get your a$$ to work. Nobody is interested in your gossip.

If Ammons believes we need an Associate Provost, then hire an Associate Provost. The man was Provost and did an excellent job. He is trying to ensure our Academic Programs are top notch. You will see more focus placed on SBI, Nursing, and Education moving forward. It is imperative that these programs receive the attention they need. Recall, we are on SACS probation not because of Academic Programs, but because of Administrative and Fiscal Affairs. He's trying to make sure we maintain a laser focus on the Academic Affairs front.

  13. 7:09--Who says I'm at work? Are you this stupid to believe that I would sit at a desk at work and post anything to an idiot like you? Apparently YOU are interested in "gossip" b/c you're here on a gossip blog. Pot, don't call this kettle black.

  15. I'm a insider to and I can tell you right now a lot of insider's at this school to old, don't want to change, don't try to improve their situation, taking up space till they get their DROP, basically not trying at all. THEY NEED TO GO.... Time to bring in new blood....

  16. The one thing I must say about Dr. Ammons he will take care of his home town folks. That's a damn shame. He hired a coach with no college background in coaching or knowledge of NCAA rules or recruiting.I would'nt be surprise if that's his cousin or niece.

  17. AMEN, 10:57! My concerns, exactly. If anyone recalls, Coach Gillespie was winning as well, and look how he behaved. Winning at all costs isn't everything. We'll soon find out, though. Come on, bloggers---I feel the wrath coming!

  19. 10:57 am,

All I have to say in response to you is two words---- Claudette Farmer ! Remember her?

The former Rickards H.S. girls coach, with no prior college experience, following the Mickey Clayton meltdown, who did a very able job of coaching the (then) Rattlerettes to 6 MEAC Championships and three NCAA tournament appearances.

Let's give Ms. Gibson a chance.

  20. Claudette, like the others, are gone. Give the woman a chance. Her time for "going" will be soon enough.
