Curtis Pulley, Kentucky’s “Mr. Football” for 2004 and Paul Hornung Award as the Kentucky player of the year will be wearing the Orange and Green this fall Rattler Nation has learned. Pulley was expected to compete for the starting job at the University of Kentucky this fall, but was dismissed from the team for violation of team rules earlier this month.
Pulley, a 6'4/200lbs Hopkinsville, Ky native, played sporadically at wide receiver and quarterback at UK in 2005 and 2006, but left school briefly after losing a quarterback battle with Andre Woodson. He returned last fall and starred on the offensive scout team and appeared to have turned a corner during the spring, showing flashes of brilliance at times during the team's annual Blue-White game. Pulley passed for 134 yards and ran for another 82.
Pulley has two years of eligibility remaining, and could probably benefit and grow under the strong mentorship of a stern leader like Joe Taylor.
Let's pray that he has gotten his off field issues resolved so that he can become the productive citizen that we know he can be.
ReplyDeleteThis could be big for FAMU. I just hope he can stay out of trouble.
ReplyDeleteI'm confident that with Joe Taylor, he'll stay out of trouble or he'll be gone!
ReplyDeleteAny thoughts on how long it will be before he's starting??
ReplyDeleteLet him earn it. Don't give it to him.
ReplyDeleteIf he was battling for the starting spot with Andre Woodson buddy got to be the truth. I pretty sure he's gonna be starting by the second game. Oh and F.Y.I Andre Woodson was 2x Music City MVP.
ReplyDeleteThis proves what I heard a old person tell a kind when he was complaining about something wasnt "fair". She said, "honey Fair is what you pay to get on a plane." So while it may not be "fair" it is life. He did not earn the position, but he will get it and I am sure there will be some anomosity.....
ReplyDeleteIn a strange twist of fate. I was in the NWA Worldclub with the father of one of the kids vying for UK's QB spot because of Hornburg's dismissal just last week. This kid also had an off-field incident involving drinking,
ReplyDeleteI think Hornburg is a great QB and under Coach Taylor's mentorship, he will definitely turn the corner, or the boot will hit his arse on the way out.
keep him away from Mike's Beer Barn and he'll be fine. JTaylor will get him straight. Lord knows he reformed plenty of "thugs" and guys who got a raw deal at Hampton and managed to whip up on FAMU in the process.
ReplyDeleteI just want to wish him the best of luck and hope he's the man for the job.
ReplyDeletePulley is a great athlete. Should he make good on his second chance he will make guys proud. I'am from his hometown and want tosee him do well.
ReplyDeleteCurtis played his highschool football at my alma mater and may be the best highschool football player I have ever seen. As long as he puts his past behind him FAMU has picked up a tremendous athlete and I wish him the best of luck.
ReplyDeletehe sure is easy on the eye. Intoxicating substances might have been his downfall at UK, but females might be his achilles heel at FAMU.
