A team of three business students from FAMU's School of Business and Industry, yesterday, claimed first place at the National Black MBA Conference's case-study competition in Washington, DC. It it the second year in a row that students from FAMU's SBI won the competition, and the first time in 14 years that a school has repeated as champs.
The FAMU team swept through its region beating teams from MIT and Duke to make the finals of the competition. When the final points were tallied FAMU finished No. 1 and head of the University of Tennessee (2nd place), and the University of Texas (3rd place).
Last year FAMU broke new ground at the MBA confab by becoming the first HBCU to win the top prize. Ironically, it was FAMU's first year competing.

Congratulations FAMU!!! We're proud of you.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a SBIan but this bring tears to my eyes.
ReplyDeleteI'm so proud of our students....
CONGRATULATIONS "SBIans"!
ReplyDeleteLet's take the time to sort out things and give credit to the two faculty members who advised these three students. They are: Dr. Joycelyn-Finley and Dr. Shawnta Friday-Stroud! These two women, among other "faculty" members are to be commended. Hopefully, they are recognized above anyone else who wants to take credit.
I agree with writer 10:09 am! Administrators in SBI are notorious for taking credit for the work of others, while placing themselves in the spotlight! The three students are awesome, and were prepared under the guidance and direction of the two faculty members mentioned! KUDOS to the real winners!SBI is back on the move!
ReplyDeleteCongrats!
ReplyDeleteCan black students at non-HBCUs compete in this competition?
Finley & Stroud deserve the accolades. Do not take that away from them. It is a LOT of work (that they do not have to do) to ride herd on these students and motivate them to produce a quality product.
ReplyDelete4:07 PM, What do you think MIT, Duke, Tennessee, and Texas are? They ARE NOT HBCU's.
ReplyDeleteFAMU is great!!!
I believe in FAMU!!!!
Dr. Shawnta Friday-Stroud is by far the best instructor I have ever had! Congratulations to the team again. Go FAMU!
