The FAMU Board of Trustees voted to “take no action” on its employment agreement with President Elmira Mangum during its meeting this afternoon.

Trustee Robert Woody proposed the motion. It passed unanimously.

The contract between Mangum and the BOT says that: “Dr. Mangum and the Board’s representative shall confer by no later than June 30, 2016 regarding the renewal or extension of this Agreement and if such renewal or extension does not occur, the Parties agree to allow the natural expiration of the term of the Agreement regarding Dr. Mangum’s service as President.”

Mangum’s contract is now on track to expire at its end date of April 1, 2017.

Inside Higher Ed reported that Mangum “hopes for a contract extension.”

Kelvin Lawson, now chairman of the BOT, asked Mangum last week if she would be willing to delay the discussion on the contract for 45 days in order to let the trustees finish their annual evaluation process for her. She rejected the request.
