U.S. Rep. David Scott, D-Georgia, will deliver the keynote address in FAMU’s virtual fall commencement at 10 a.m., Saturday, December 12.

Scott earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in theatre with honors in 1967 from FAMU and later became the third African-American to receive an MBA from the Wharton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated with honors in 1969.
In 1974, he was elected as a Georgia State Representative, where he served from 1975 to 1982. In 1982, David Scott was elected as a Georgia State Senator, where he served from 1983 to 2002, when he was elected to Congress.
In Congress, Scott has been an advocated for student loan repayment assistance and secured $80 million in funding for agriculture-focused scholarships at the 19 historically Black 1890s land-grant colleges and universities, including FAMU.
He is currently serving his ninth term representing Georgia's 13th Congressional District.
