In a commanding display of skill and determination, the FAMU Rattlers baseball team completed a three-game sweep against the Jackson State Tigers over the weekend, culminating in an impressive 11-1 victory on Saturday. The Rattlers' dominant performance not only secured their series sweep but also placed them just a half-game behind Bethune-Cookman in the SWAC East standings.

The Rattlers' path to victory began on Thursday when they handed the Jackson State Tigers a decisive 10-1 defeat, followed by an 8-3 triumph on Friday. However, it was Saturday's showdown that truly showcased FAMU's prowess on the diamond.

On Saturday, Senior True Fontenot collected four RBIs to help propel the Rattlers to victory over the Tigers. Fontenot's stellar performance, coupled with the pitching prowess of junior Jacob Granger (2-1), paved the way for FAMU's success.

Granger delivered a solid five-inning performance, conceding only one run on seven hits while striking out five batters. Junior Tanner Walker also contributed to the Rattlers' defensive efforts, delivering two shutout innings on the mound.

Offensively, the Rattlers were firing on all cylinders, with Fontenot and junior Jakoby Stanley leading the charge. Fontenot's impressive 3-for-4 performance, including a home run, showcased his offensive firepower, while Stanley's contributions at the plate, including a home run of his own, to further bolster FAMU’s lead.

The game's momentum swung firmly in the Rattlers' favor in the second inning when the surged ahead with two runs, including Stanley's solo home run. From there, FAMU continued to build upon their lead, stifling the Tigers' offensive efforts while capitalizing on scoring opportunities of their own.

By the fifth inning, the Rattlers had extended their lead to 7-1, with Fontenot's three-run homer. Despite Jackson State's efforts to mount a comeback, FAMU maintained their defensive composure, holding the Tigers at bay while adding to their lead with timely hits and aggressive base running.

Ultimately, the Rattlers sealed the victory with a final score of 11-1, capping off a weekend of dominance on the diamond.
