In a weekend defined by gritty performances and narrow margins, the FAMU bowling team battled to a 6–4 record at the SWAC East Regional, hosted by Alabama A&M University.

Competing against some of the conference’s toughest opponents, the Rattlers showed flashes of dominance along with resilience in tight matches, finishing the two-day event with 8,274 total points and a fourth place finish heading into the heart of the season.

Day one: A strong start
FAMU opened strong on Friday, going 4–1 with decisive victories over Southern (814–791) and Prairie View A&M (864–815). Though they fell to a powerful Jackson State squad (1015–792), the Rattlers demonstrated early composure and execution under pressure.

Day Two: Battling through adversity
Saturday brought a gauntlet of competition. FAMU dropped tightly contested matches to Alabama State (955–820), Texas Southern (845–723), and Jackson State once more (980–780). But the Rattlers refused to go quietly, closing the day with hard-fought wins over Prairie View A&M (790–742) and Southern (873–838) to finish the weekend on a high note.

First-year head coach Jeramy Williams praised his team’s mental toughness: “We faced quality opponents and never backed down. There were moments we’d like back, but we had a strong showing. We’re learning, growing, and we’ll be ready when it counts.”

The weekend offered a clear glimpse of the team’s potential—particularly in matches where spare conversions and clutch striking made the difference. The Rattlers proved they can hang with the best in the conference.

FAMU returns to the lanes with renewed focus and valuable experience as they prepare for upcoming conference clashes and a run toward the SWAC Championship.
