Dr. Patrick R. Liverpool has been appointed "Consulting Dean" for the Florida A&M School of Business and Industry. Mr. Liverpool, who begins his job on Monday, January 9, comes to FAMU from Delaware State University where he served as the Dean and MBNA America Professor of the School of Management. Mr. Liverpool holds a Doctor of Business Administration form Kent State University, an MBA and BS degree from Inter-American University (Puerto Rico).

Mr. Liverpool's other professional experience includes stints as Dean and professor of the School of Business at Virginia Union University; Dean, School of Business, Virginia State University; and Vice Provost for University Outreach and International Programs at Virginia Tech.

He also served on the Board of Directors (2001-2004) of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

In her letter to faculty, FAMU Provost Debra Austin wrote, "obviously these experiences will help SBI as we move forward (read seek AACSB accreditation)."

Mr. Liverpool doesn't come to SBI without his critics, many of whom believe that SBI needs permanent leadership and not another interim. Further, many are alos of the belief that half the current faculty at SBI has more impressive credentials than Mr. Liverpool.

SBI has been without permanent leadership since founding Dean Sybil Mobley retired in June 2002, despite the fact that she gave "the U" two years notice.

  1. When will the alumni, taxpayer citzens of Florida recognize that the CABAL's plan is to degrade FAMU and take her where she has never been before. Rock bottom, the scum of the earth, despised by the state of Florida, legislators and any future students and parents looking for a good institution of higher education.

I have been talking to folks at SBI and I haven't come across anyone who is upset with getting another "interim". I mean Drs. Bradford and Smith resigned at the same moment at the end of the semester. The university could have placed a permanent dean in there but oh man would that have been World War III!!!

I also haven't heard that much resentment towards Mr. Liverpool's credentials. I don't think that there are more than 2 professors at SBI that have been on the Board of Directors of anything as high level as the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. I swear SBI has some snob professors that don't even have the right to be snobs.
