Heading down the home streaching leading into the MEAC Tournament, the FAMU men and womens basketball team both dropped games to Delaware State Saturday in "the Jake" (Gaither Center).
The Rattler men lost a 61-58 decision to fall 12-16,(8-8 MEAC)on the season,the Hornets improved to 17-11 and clinced their second consecutive MEAC regular season title. FAMU has lost seven of their last nine games after a 6-2 start in the league.
Meanwhile, the Lady Rattlers lost their forth straight 65-50, it was the seventh lost in the last eight games. The lost dropped the Lady Rattlers to 9-16 (5-11 MEAC), and into a tie for ninth place in the MEAC. Delaware State improved to 17-8,
(11-5 MEAC)and retained sole possession of second place in the MEAC with Saturday's win.
The Rattler men and women have just two remaining regular season games left. The Rattlers play at Hampton on March 1, before returning home to face B-CC on March 4.
