Midway through this year's legislative session, FAMU's $3.5 million proposal to improve student recruitment, retention and graduation rate has attracted zero dollars in the House and only $744,614 in the Senate.
As much negotiation and budget wrangling remains its not yet time to panic. The legislative budget at this point shows that FAMU has quite a bit of work to do to get this item funded, if its importantant to them.
Both houses seemed to be in agreement on providing funding for FAMU's Law School with has $2.6 million in Senate and House budget drafts. Other FAMU programs funded include:
$12.6 million, Jones Hall remodeling
$9.4 million, university commons renovation
$3.8 million, electrical upgrades, technology, infrastructure
$2.85 multi-purpose center teaching gym
$2.5 million, developmental research school
Is our interim president serious? Did she really think the legislature would jump to cover the bill for the recruitment program she slashed to pieces?
ReplyDeleteThat's like chopping off your own two legs and then asking someone else to pay your hospital/surgery bills. No one has sympathy for self-inflicted wounds.
Where have I heard this "self-inflicted wound" before?
ReplyDeleteUmm, where is Castell's trusted mouth-piece? Did Rosey and Castell really think that a Bush run Senate and House would even consider a recruitment budget for FAMU.
Reggin, please!
