The FAMU Rattlers secured a 76-71 win over the visiting Jackson State Tigers, in a thrilling Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) game at the Al Lawson Center on Saturday. The Rattlers, now 11-12 overall and 8-4 in SWAC play, built a commanding 25-point lead before Jackson State (8-17, 8-4 in SWAC) mounted a late comeback that ultimately fell short.

FAMU guard Sterling Young was the standout performer for the Rattlers game, scoring a game-high 28 points off the bench. Young's impressive performance included eight of 14 shooting, two of five from beyond the arc, and a perfect 10 for 10 at the free-throw line. Fellow guards Milton Matthews and Jordan Chatman also contributed significantly, with Matthews scoring 15 points and Chatman adding 14.

This victory marked FAMU’s third consecutive win and their eighth in the last nine games, propelling the Rattlers to the No. 2 spot in the SWAC standings. Despite their recent success, head coach Patrick Crarey emphasized the team's focus on continuous improvement rather than their current ranking.

"We’re not worried about it. We’re trying to grow. We’re not here to win games ― we’re here to win everything," said Carrey.

The Rattlers' will host the Braves of Alcorn State on Monday evening in another SWAC match up.
